Have you checked in OWA to check if the global address list has been updated? The object or change must replicate to the domain controller the OAB generating server uses. The offline address book must be generated. This is a scheduled activity. Outlook must synchronize itself with the offline address book. This is directed by Outlook. On server side, please Use the following cmdlet to update the offline address book:. On client side, check if Autodiscover Service is working fine in Outlook because misconfiguration of Autodiscover could cause the OAB to fail downloading.

You can try to run Test E-mailautoconfiguration and then check the log tab to see if any error there. Please refer to the following links to get more detailed information about OAB:. Click OK. Again go to File and then click Exit. At this stage, you have to restart your system. Then uncheck all your preferred boxes and click Remove. Finally, click on OK to complete disabling add-ins in your Outlook account. As full BITS job list is responsible for error 0x stating Outlook cannot update Global Address Book, resetting or removing the list is the only remedy.

Users can take help of this post and resolve the error by following instructions given here. Sometime we have a user who isn't getting the update for one reason or another and I am able to resolve it with a manual download, as described above.

Another thing to look for would be the 'hide from exchange address lists' checkbox in the mailbox properties on Exchange. Make sure it's unchecked. Also make sure that the GAL is set to be pushed out for the default offline address book. Also might be worth running an update on the OAB and seeing if that helps. First, to address those who recommend disabling Cached Exchange Mode , this is more of a workaround and not a solution.

Cached Exchange Mode is a more efficient way for typical users to access their messages in Outlook. Mine is set for once a day at 5AM. If I make AD changes, I tell the end users they won't see the changes for up to 24 hours.

It's easier this way and avoids confusion. Second, I didn't see what version of Exchange you were using. The troubleshooting steps would be based-off what Exchange version you're using.

That's great if they're using 07 or later. Need to find out what version of Exchange their running first.
